Ask LH is a chatbot that answers questions from Lifehackster’s YouTube videos and comments. Its replies appear under the name “Lifehackster” but are written automatically, not personally by Lifehackster. Every statement is backed by a quote from a specific video moment or comment, and the server checks that each quote really appears in the source it cites.
How sources are labelled
- Video transcript: Lifehackster speaking in a video (captions, so names and numbers can be misheard).
- Creator comment: a reply from the verified Lifehackster channel, identified by channel ID.
- Viewer experience / question / comment: what a viewer wrote. These are anecdotes, not Lifehackster’s conclusions.
Coverage of this index
- Transcripts searchable for … videos (… timed caption segments)
- … comments from … video(s); … selected as useful
- Publication dates are known for … video(s). Newer videos are preferred, and when videos disagree the newest one comes first.
The index may not include every video, so a topic that isn’t found doesn’t mean Lifehackster never covered it.
Live answers
Off. Without live answers, questions return key quotes from the videos, word for word, with no AI writing.
Languages
Ask LH answers in English, Spanish, French, German or Portuguese. Auto answers in the language of your question. The videos are in English: quotes, product names, timestamps and links stay exactly as recorded.
Voice input
Your browser turns speech into text, usually by sending the audio to its maker’s speech service (Google for Chrome, Microsoft for Edge, Apple for Safari). Ask LH never receives or stores audio.
Top recommendation and shopping links
A product appears in the Top recommendation panel only when a cited passage shows Lifehackster concluding it. The “Shop via Lifehackster” button appears only with a verified Lifehackster affiliate link for that exact product. Affiliate link — Lifehackster may earn a commission if you buy through this link. Affiliate links never affect which product is recommended. Verified links on file: …; verified product images: ….
Your conversation and privacy
Ask LH keeps the chat only in this page: it disappears when you refresh, leave or press Start fresh. It doesn’t save your questions, answers or audio in the browser’s storage or in its logs. When AI answers are on, your question and the last few turns are sent to the AI provider (Anthropic) to write the answer; the provider’s own data-retention policy applies to them, separately from Ask LH.
